Turner's Bio Page One Turner Mires grew up on a farm in Tennessee and learned that a lot of his ancestors on both sides of his family were guitar players. At the age of five he got his first little push button guitar that made chords and at seven, he got his first real guitar. He was fortunate to be able to learn how to play from Reed Fisher, Perry Lee Hayden, and other talented players in his neighborhood. By the age of 11 he was helping some of the people who played violin, banjo, or guitar and had poor eyesight, put strings on their instruments and tune them up. In high school he began repairing anything he could, majoring in wood and machine shop. He enjoyed making things work and fixing broken ones.
